RICARDO PALMA BOOK FAIR !

Beginning this Friday November 14, the much-anticipated annual book fair, Feria del Libro Ricardo Palma, returns to Lima to mark its 35th edition. Attendees can expect a larger venue than years past to offer an even wider range of literature to paw through, as well as activities to take part in, and performances to enjoy. Although the location has changed, those interested in attending the event can rest assure that entrance remains free of charge.

Ricardo Palma book fair returns to Lima for 35th edition
This year’s theme, “Tus libros a la vista,” or “Your books in sight,” matches perfectly with the location along the malecon during the oncoming summer season. The 17-day long event will take place at the Miraflores Parque Salazar (in front of Larco Mar) and will occupy a space double that of last year’s edition.

And what can be expected to fill that space besides, of course, books?
Circus performances, theater acts, live music, and storytelling, to name just a few, as divulged by Cámara Peruana del Libro (CPL), organizers of the event.
Both national as well as international authors have confirmed their attendance, including delegates from Chile, Colombia, and even France. Talks and presentations will take place in either of the two large auditoriums constructed for the event, with capacity of 150 to 200 persons each.
Under the namesake of famed Peruvian author and scholar Ricardo Palma, the book fair aims to “promote the retention of the book, that unique experience that makes literature a special magic,” as stated by current Miraflores mayor, Jorge Muñoz Wells.
Though Palma’s name appears front and center in all of the advertisements for the event, don’t think that he will be the only literary figure honored: homage to Ricardo Silva Satisteban, Julio Ramón Ribeyro, and Julio Cortázar will be made, in addition to other Latin American authors.

The book fair runs November 14 to the 30th, seven days a week. Hours run 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Friday, and from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturdays.
